Fairness & diversity
Having a workforce which reflects our community is important to us within Wakefield Council because of the message this sends to our citizens about us as an employer but also as a major provider of services which need to be delivered in a way which is sensitive and responsive to a wide variety of needs and expectations.
As a Council we are committed to challenging all forms of discrimination by being pro-active about equality of opportunity. We strive to ensure that our policies and procedures are fair; that our staff are knowledgeable and understand the needs of all citizens and that we meet the legal expectations placed upon us by the positive statutory duties on race, gender and disability as well as the requirement to meet the other equality laws on age, sexual orientation and religion & belief.
Workforce diversity is important to the Council for the contribution it makes to the social inclusion and community cohesion work which is going on within the district.
